About Valerie
VALERIE, who hails from Miami, Florida, is a newcomer in the world of indie music. In 2023, she embarked on a journey that traversed personal experiences, faith, and the intricacies of the human psyche with the release of her debut, studio album, WITHIN THE CONFINES OF YOU. Crafting mesmerising sonic and visual landscapes through the use of characters and anachronistic settings, Valerie's approach to music is nothing short of cinematic and conceptual, positioning her as a fresh and exciting talent. A singer-songwriter since childhood, she brings an unfiltered, creative authenticity to her craft, taking inspiration from the likes of Taylor Swift, Grimes, Fleetwood Mac, The 1975, Charlotte Clark, John Mayer, Lorde, Hayley Williams, and more, and she's been compared to AURORA, Caroline Polachek, Magdalena Bay, and Weyes Blood. VALERIE’s lack of formal musical training is, in her eyes, a boon to her creativity, allowing her to defy conventions and experiment freely with sound and narrative.

We all have confines others suggest for us, but only we can make them into Real places. Sometimes, the things that happen to us stay inside us for so long that they begin to take form and change over time. They take over our minds and we get stuck there. I didn’t mind living in that place — it helped me make this record. For me, my great loves and heartbreaks took the form of the open ocean, a ship, a storm, a war, a different era, dreams, novels, and an imagined future, coalescing into an asylum I lived in voluntarily. This record is about those places I got stuck in, how I gripped the keys to my own confines. But it’s also about how I broke out. WITHIN THE CONFINES OF YOU, Valerie's debut album, is available now on all streaming platforms.
